Yeah guys I know that the Desktop regains its functionality after disabling the Effects. I was just hoping that the update would make the effects usable :-(

I have found out, that putting this

[Plugins]
kwin4_effect_blurEnabled=false

into my ~/.kde/share/config/kwinrc

Make compositing work without the need of forcing indirect rendering. So now I have OpenGL 2.1 AND compositing again :-)
I think in general it helps deactivating the blue plugin, but you are not always allowed deactivating it through the gui (I was not. X crashed).

I just press Shift + Alt + F12 two times. Takes me about a second and Compositing is enabled

In mi thinkpad disabling blur solve the problem too

What I tried to explain, is that changing the setting through the gui crashes X before any settings are saved ;-)

I found a solution from http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1318836 . Thank you for Untitled_No4. I am using KDE 4.5.1. I checked 'Disabl functionality checks' box under System Setting > Desktop Effects >  Advanced tab. And KDE starts with Desktop effects are activated.
