Re: Foobar2000 Clone

Yeah I checked it out quite a while ago when I was looking for foobar2000 like audio player. It's not so much a foobar2000 "clone", though...functionality wise, and I didn't particularly like it either. I think foobar2000's strength is in its overwhelming number of plugins. And I miss that, rather than the looks of it. I just run foobar2000 through wine (20041019) and it works ok, minus few things, but the most important functions, masstagger and DSPs work very well smile

There was a talk about linux port a couple of years ago, and the main guy who develops foobar2000 was enthusiastic about it, but eventually it got shot down and he's not even thinking about it anymore, saying if someone is serious enough about making a clone, SDK provides enough hints on the internal to make a clone out of it but since nobody has done it or even come close to it, it's not worth the effort.

Foobar2000 is truly a great app. Not open source but developed by a few guys with great functionality in mind, and works almost unbelievably well. It would be truly nice if someone on the linux front had the same kind of approach toward music. If I could code, I sure as hell would be working on it smile

Re: Foobar2000 Clone

An advanced jukebox-like UI, similar to MEXP for Winamp, but adjusted for XMMS would be the ideal audio player... sadly enough it doesn't exist ATM.
Amarok may be bloated or too much eyecandy focused, but it's a very good audio player.
