Rolling Release - The next evolution of Arch Linux Magazine

After much discussion with our contributors and the community, as well as lots of development time, I am proud to present the official Arch Linux ezine, Rolling Release! Built on the same principles as Ars Technica, Rolling Release provides an open, fluid format for sharing Arch and IT-related news to our favorite community. Anyone can register as a contributor, and updates can be followed onsite, as well as via email, RSS, Twitter, or Identi.ca. It is my hope that this format will be more conductive to community sharing as it allows looser timelines and an easier publishing path. Take a look around, contribute, and enjoy!

As always Ghost, very nice work.

The site looks great -- and will provide a versatile platform for Archer's to share and interact.

Thanks! That's the goal! When did you become a mod? I take a short leave of absence and the whole place goes bonkers!

You turn your back for a minute and the lunatics are in charge of the asylum. Now you've gone and let me create a Rolling Release account - I can wreak havoc there as well...

Contributor != moderator tongue I'll make my own decisions down the line as to who gets mod/editor accounts.

Congratulations on the new ezine.

I'm signing up just as I write this. Would you like me to post my former submission to the arch user magazine on this site? Or are you planning on publishing these yourself from the files already sent to you?

How exactly do I register? I press the register button and it says that I will be emailed with a password. But I have not provided an email address.

Jukáš Jirkovský (stativ), from Czech Republic, sponsored by Thomas Dziedzic

According to https://bbs.archlinux.org/profile.php?id=8286 his handle is 6xx and not stativ.

For future reference, should I be posting this in the comments to the article?

I like it, this is an interesting and novel approach to news sharing that I think fits right in with the flexibility of the Arch Linux community.
good job.

How does it differ from the planet (blogs) and the Arch News? Is it novel because other people write it?

Very nice. I just joined as contributor. I'd like to write some articles now and then which aren't worth for a regular news item or setting up a private blog for them.

PS: Did you wrote the software yourself or is it some kind of cms?

Thanks! Feel free to post your submissions yourself. As I have time I'll likely get to posting a few of the submissions that never got published, but it'd happen a lot faster if you just posted yourself tongue

If you hit register, it says you will be emailed a password and prompts you for your username and email address. My question is, are you registering as a contributor? Because if you are just trying to follow, no registration is necessary.

jasonwryan is correct, it is a modified version of Wordpress. If you have any questions/comments regarding the specifics please feel free to contact me.

Thank you ghost for the info, it was so silly of me not to notice the field names changing. Yes I want to contribute, I always wanted to contribute to the magazine but never really went for it. Waiting for the email.
