Is there anything nicer than the whole gift setup? I'm using the toxic package with it, but still, blah. I just mainly want it for kazaa.

FastTrack won't work with giFT or any client other than Kazaa anymore - not any, not at all. You can connect, but you can't download or upload, because Sharman did some tweaks to weed out Kazaa Lite users.

It's what I've heard, anyway. Maybe the tweak doesn't affect giFT or stuff other than Kazaa?

I use apollon and I find it way better than toxic because it has a nicer interface and more feature. The only downside is it dependency with kdelib which will make some people who love minimalistic dismiss it

How about..... BitTorrent?

If anyone asks, I didn't know...

Mldonkey. Quite good for ED2K and G2 networks, while the Bittorrent protocol implementation is still crappy. But I do like it's philosophy -a daemon running and picking with little resources consumption, being controllable via a web browser or telnet, with a GUI as optional (who needs it?).

azureus hands down for bittorrent. but for a few single songs its a lot easier to just grab them off fasttrack. i just uninstalled apollon, almost everything i got off there was corrupted. back to toxic i guess.

I use Azureus for almost everything... why download a single song when i can have the whole album
Also i used to use aMule and xMule, but those are not for Fasttrack, for that protocol de only one i saw was MLDonkey (wich i thinks its discontinued) and giFT (the one you want to get rid of )...

I remember eXeem being hailed as the next great file-sharing utility on slashdot a while back, they released their beta, and then I heard nothing more. Technologically it sounds pretty good. I couldn't get it to run under wine though.
