gnome problems

i just did a pacman -S gnome, started up gnome and everything seemed to be fine except when i right click on the desktop nothing happens  :? , and also it wont start my home folder, or computer and no trash, compter etc icons apear on the desktop?

This  is due to a bug that affects users that install gnome for the first time.  Check the bug report for more info (there is also a script that you need  to run):

Get the script posted in the bug report (link above) and follow the instructions.  I haven't tried it so I can't be more specific.

no worries 8)

download the file to some place... I'll assume you put it in your home folder.

in a terminal do the following:

$ cd ~
$ chmod 777 gconffix.sh
$ su -c ./gconffix.sh
  --- it will ask for the root password here, then run the fix ---

so after all that i desided to remove gnome but cant, i do a pacman -Rs gnome answer yes, but it just complains about dependecies

there's a "cascade" option... which will remove everything that depends on gnome... I can't recall the option though.... do a "pacman -Rh" and see which one is cascade....
