@milomouse; mind sharing that ratpoisonrc? Always interested in what other people use and to improve my own setup Am I right in thinking stumpwm is essentially rp but written in common Lisp?

it's in my signature. nothing special, i haven't looked at it in a while. here's a direct link though: http://github.com/milomouse/dotfiles/bl … atpoisonrc  And yeah, stumpwm is basically the same thing as ratpoison but way more extensible and, as you mentioned, written in common lisp so it's not a binary like ratpoison and is reloadable in real-time, etc. if you ever get comfortable with ratpoison you may want to give stumpwm a try if you're looking for something with 'smarter' window placement/handling (e.g. movie scaling [mplayer,vlc,totem] and window-based rules), yada yada. easier to use than to describe as it can be basically anything you want. cheers!

Yeah I'm looking to try stump out later along the line, going to familiarize myself with ratpoison first

So I decided to mess with conky again, update my screenrc amongst other things, Finally think I will stick with this one {seriously last post... sorry }

That should be iris, from silicongraphics. Look up sgifonts or something like that.

I switched to KDE 4.5 earlier in the month, but ended up ditching it because the performance was just awful.   Couldn't even play 720p HD movies, without choppy video every few seconds.   Last night I made the switch back to Gnome, Avant Window Navigator, and Compiz and am very pleased with the results.   The machine is now speedy again, and looks fairly good, IMHO.

With conky as the system monitor, and AWN taking the place of gnome-panel, I utilize the entire desktop.
