hey people.
just wanto to know, is the info in the first post updated?
i was thinking in testing a more recent build od readeon driver just to see if kde would get a little better and all that stuff, but not sure.
i have a r620 (radeon 3470 i think) and not sure in testing.
Kms works already with stable and i think power saving is working to at least i allows me to put a profile to low.

I'm currently trying to get evergreen and gallium3d working, but xserver only loads the software rasterizer.
compiled and installed 'aur/ati-dri-git-gallium'.
EDIT: Just found out i have to us the evergreen_accel branch from xf86-video-ati

I updated the first post and renamed the thread. I also updated the packages in the repo. Gallium for r600 is working again, but is still slower than the classic driver.
@rp9: Are you sure gallium and evergreen is already working? I think you will get better results with the classic drivers.
Even gallium for the r600/700 chips is still slower than the classic driver (but it works).

Hum please I have already the same problem that I posted here:
In kde the blur effect shows a black texture in place of the blur texture which would be excepting.
I know it's a bug of mesa 7.9-dev but how to fix it because I was waiting long time now...

Can you tell me how exactly have you done this? Are there any instructions?

Perry3d, would it be difficult to include evergreen support in your xf86-video-ati-git package?I am refering to 3d acceleration from the evergreen_accel branch.

@geodoc
If you want to test the evergreen_branch, then there's an AUR git package available: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=40105
You can monitor the changelog for the branch here: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver … reen_accel
I've just tested it yesterday, but quickly uninstalled it and reverted back to the stable driver, as it didn't work correctly on my HD5450. I could start X and my WM Musca, and urxvt also worked, but when trying to start my browser jumanji, then the entire screen went white and my system would hang completely, so that a hard-reset was needed to get out of it. So I didn't even got to testing how well the acceleration was with the driver.
Maybe you will have better luck than me?
Edit:
Could someone please help me with if im needing to do something to get the aur evergreen driver working?
I can see that the xorg.log first states that the dri2 interface is setup and working and that direct rendering and acceleration is enabled, but then later on I get this error:
[ 1802.430] (EE) AIGLX error: Calling driver entry point failed
[ 1802.431] (EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering
[ 1802.431] (II) AIGLX: Screen 0 is not DRI capable
[ 1802.474] (II) AIGLX: Loaded and initialized /usr/lib64/dri/swrast_dri.so
[ 1802.474] (II) GLX: Initialized DRISWRAST GL provider for screen 0
Thnaks in advance!

Hello,
i installed your packages like you wrote in the first post. I boot from LVM so i wanted to ask if your kernel supports this. Cause although i compiled the hooks with mkinitcpio -p kernel26-drm-radeon-testing. I cant boot with your kernel
Update: Ok, seems i have to include lvm-support in the kernel, not with moduls to boot from lvm. I'll compile it that way now.

Did anyone have success in playing webm videos with firefox beta?
It is <1 fps for me with firefox using 100% cpu on one core and X using 100% on the other core.

Hi all,
I'm a little outdated and i would like to know which is the status of powersaving with the latest versions on Radeon HD 4570 mobile (Dell Studio 1555). If someone has a (little) time to answer, i would be really happy .
Thanks guys!

Hi,
I'm having some difficulties with using DisplayPort. I've got a Radeon 4890 (770 chip) and it's connected to a Dell U2410.
As soon as KMS kicks in the screen goes dark and into power save mode. Switching to UMS mode lets me keep the picture until i start X, same thing happens.
I started out using two screens, one connected by DVI and one connected by DisplayPort so I thought I'd see if disconnecting the DVI screen would help. It did not.
I've tried the [testing] versions of the driver, linux-firmware and xserver. I have also tried compiling the ATI driver from git. The problem persists.
xrandr gives me: DisplayPort-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
dmesg | grep drm gives me:
[drm] Initialized drm 1.1.0 20060810
[drm] Initialized radeon 1.33.0 20080528 for 0000:02:00.0 on minor 0
[drm] Setting GART location based on new memory map
[drm] Loading RV770 CP Microcode
[drm] Resetting GPU
[drm] writeback test succeeded in 1 usecs
No messages regarding "ati", "kms" or "display"
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log |grep Display gives me:

Powersaving should work with the official kernel too.

May I request a newer build of the kernel and/or the drivers in the repo?
I sometimes get the message
drmRadeonCmdBuffer: -22. Kernel failed to parse or rejected command stream. See dmesg for more info.
radeon 0000:02:00.0: r600_cs_track_check:287 mask 0x0000000F | 0x0000000F no cb for 0
radeon 0000:02:00.0: r600_packet3_check:1242 invalid cmd stream 508
[drm:radeon_cs_ioctl] *ERROR* Invalid command stream !
Doesn't really tell me anything but I'd guess that either the driver or the kernel is too old.
edit: I have also discovered that only youtube webm videos are so slow in firefox, the one on xiph does work really, really smooth, even the 720p version:
http://xiph.org/video/vid1.shtml
Any solutions?

If not, your PKGBUILDS would be cool...
edit: Especially I mean the kernel26-drm-radeon-testing one.. kernel26-drm-git in aur seems outdated...
The rest seems to be in mesa-r600-r700-git (with mesa 7.9 already).

Take a look at the first post:
git clone git://gitorious.org/radeon/radeon.git
And i am already updating a new compiled kernel for x86_64...

I just made a pacman -Syu.... they may have changed xorg version or similar, because now radeon driver doesn't load anymore!
Now I'm under vesa at low and stretched resolution... waiting for a new radeon build

temporary fixed installing xf86-video-ati-git from aur (PKGBUILD says it's in conflict with xorg-server 1.9, but it works)

I am also getting similar messages while trying to run TF2 via Wine:
drmRadeonCmdBuffer: -22. Kernel failed to parse or rejected command stream. See dmesg for more info.
[ 522.859187] radeon 0000:01:00.0: z/stencil with no depth buffer

[ 522.859193] [drm:radeon_cs_ioctl] *ERROR* Invalid command stream !
I am using the radeon repo and Zen kernel v2.6.35-zen3+
Is that a kernel issue (e.g. I need the latest drm-next kernel) or a driver limitation (some parts are just not ready)?

I built all the packages in the git myself and now it runs much better. Youtube webm videos work good now, too.
