Re: Arch Linux Afterglow Edition

I tested this out on a new HDD the other day. Loved it.

as for AfterGlow Live, it will have kernel26-pf (6) with grub legacy
with that grub app you wanted right?
remoove grub2/lilo?

Most likely, yes, though if you can get grub2 working with the specifications I wanted for grub legacy, that would be fine as well.

also, the afterglow-installer can only use lilo, etc
so I must either install archiso-installer(untested)
or user must use manual-install method outlined in /usr/share/doc/manual-install, it s easy copy/paste commands into terminal
setup /etc/fstab/mtab etc

I will try the archiso-installer in VM to see if it works, but does it work with grub-legacy or grub2?
idk

Another option we might try is to make a script that automates the manual install, at least if we can't get archiso-installer working.

Awesome, glad to hear that.

Oh, and sbfreak, I will most likely still update the script, as something similar to CrunchBang Linux's Alternative Install.  I still need to update it to add the second WM choice (Compiz Standalone).

Re: Arch Linux Afterglow Edition

Ok
I got grub-gfx and grub-gfx-themes installed after many issues
dont know why it makes the grub-gfx pkg as x86_64?!
so, it wouldnt install so I had to do it manually, but pacman knows its installed, etc

basically the manual-install is the afterglow-installer in non-script form
have to check into archiso-installer...

Re: Arch Linux Afterglow Edition

Well, if that's the case, I don't think it would be too hard to modify the afterglow-installer script to work with grub, I'll take a look at it and see what I can come up with, if anything.

Re: Arch Linux Afterglow Edition

also, do you have a premade grub splash.xpm.gz for afterglow
afterglow.xpm.gz
?

can you whip one up?
and email it to me

and the iso itself is gonna be a grub iso, so the grub splash will show on cd too:)

Re: Arch Linux Afterglow Edition

Let me know when this new version is usable. I'd be glad to test it. big_smile

That theme included in your 'arch distribution' is pretty much a ripoff of this theme.
Please give credit where its due.
