Hello,
I'm running a desktop without a DE (I use Openbox, PcmanFM...)
I use VLC to play my videos, at the beggining I wanted to have a cute interface who matches with my GTK theme, QGtktheme did not worked at all, so I added the following line to my autostart.sh
[export GTK2_RC_FILES="$HOME/.gtkrc-2.0"
VLC now looked pretty, but I noticed a problem: now VLC does not have fonts like on the following screenshot:
So recently (today) I removed this line, rebooted several times, but I don't have fonts
I started qtconfig: it does not have fonts too
I reinstalled vlc, removing my /home/lowra/.config/vlc folder, the interface is now ugly, but I still don't have fonts...
Could you help me please ?

I'm probably as just as noob as you if not more, but did you tried installing a full environment and see if this is corrected? Since you like using Gtk/2 apps may be you want to install Xfce?
Just an idea...

There may be something wrong with your user setup. You could try with a new test user. Or rename the local ~/.qt folder and check if there are at least some fonts visible in qtconfig.
To know or not to know ...
... the questions remain forever.

Thanks
I deleted the Trolltech.conf file, and restarted VLC: Now I have the fonts but it's ugly
So I ran qtconfig, and set GTK+ design, it looked nice but it removed the fonts again ^^
I also tried the following hack in my autostart.sh but it does not work:
export GTK2_RC_FILES="$HOME/.gtkrc-2.0"
Still looking for a solution, but the problem isn't exactly the same ^^
EDIT: In fact when I choose GTK+ in qtconfig or in VLC settings: the fonts disappears. Now I've chosen Cleanlooks the skin is pretty but not integrated, and the fonts works.
That's not that bad
