Hi all.
pm-suspend works fine (notebook is turned off, only power led is blinking), but when I push the power button for resume it's just a standart boot starting. what's wrong?
p.s.

kernel 2.6.30

What exactly do you mean by 'standard boot starting'? When you run pm-suspend does the notebook actually power off completely? There should be some indication via LEDs or something that the notebook is still power up, but in standby mode.
How are you executing pm-suspend?
Your log file looks fine for the suspend bit, but I'm wondering what's happening between that and you turning on your device.

I mean that notebook starts boot like after simple power off:
- loading grub
- I'm choosing ArchLinux section
- Linux start booting (without resume) as usual.

notebook is still power up (all devices are off only LED continue blinking). I wrote that power LED continue blinking (as usual after suspend)

just 'pm-suspend'

The same thing happen to me, i couldn't find any errors, just stopped working.
im suspending with s2ram now (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Suspend_to_RAM), works fine.
Offline
I already tried to use s2ram .
s2ram didnt recognized my notebook, I tried to run with -f option. It was the same. Starting resume - done - simple reboot.

I'm having the same issue with pm-suspend on a Dell d420. I'll have to try s2ram.

silly question have you got the resume=/dev/sdX in your menu.lst??

What do you mean? I have no lines with "resume=/dev/sdX" in /boot/grub/menu.list I think its not necessary for suspend only.

You don't need a device to resume from with suspend; it's always from RAM.
What's peculiar is suspending does indeed seem to go fine but it never gets to resuming.
You could try to build this kernel, it's an alternative implementation of suspend/hibernate on Linux. S2ram and pm-utils work more or less the same if I'm not mistaken.

I'm joining in a little late on this thread, but I'm having similar issues on my Dell mini 10v. Suspend works fine, however when I try to wake it up, the light comes on, but that's it. I then have to hold down the power button and start it back up. Video doesn't come up... Ctrl+Alt+F1 doesn't work. And the network also doesn't come up (tried pinging it, was hoping I could SSH into it).

For those experiencing this issue, make sure that you have followed the troubleshooting steps on the pm-utils wiki, specifically the sections dealing with the 'resume' and 'autodetect' hooks:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pm- … leshooting and
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pm- … reen_issue
I have a feeling this may clear things up for at least some of you.

Yay! It worked!
I actually applied both fixes (added resume & removed autodetect from the hooks in mkinitcpio.conf), so it's 50/50 on which one was the primary issue... but I thought the second fix was harmless enough.
Either way, it's working for me now.
Thanks!

Yay! It worked!
But still not for me..
My HDD have a several partitions:
first and second - Windows(ntfs)
third - Linux Swap
fourth - Linux ext3 (/dev/sda7)
Maybe thats why its rebooting without resuming (after suspend to memory)?
p.s.
When Linux starting (after suspend) i see a message "Running resume hooks", but nothing happens (just usual booting).

I resurrect this thread, because I have the exact same problem with 2.6.35 kernel. The laptop (Sony Vaio VPCCW1S1E) seems to go fine to sleep, but instead of resume it does a full boot. In pm-suspend.log I cannot find anything of interest. I tried adding resume hook, removing autodetect hook or using s2ram to sleep with the same effect. With 2.6.34 kernel everything worked fine.
Offline
Same issue on Sony Vaio VPCEA1S1E. I added resume hook and removed autodetect, nothing helped. Any solutions to bring pm-suspend back to work?

On my Dell E4310, I had to install the lts kernel to get suspend/resume to function. It's worth a try for any of you that are still having problems.
Offline
I have exactly same problem with normal pc, but only on fresh arch64. Yesterday at 32bit it works fine
Offline
Had same issue, solved by starting hal daemon (add it to rc.conf).
Offline
I already had hal in rc.conf. Still I haven't found a solution...
Offline
I have same problem as original poster, using x64 on a Zotac GF-8200 motherboard, with kernel 2.6.35 and resume hooks and with or without hal. I posted my problem on the 21st of May this year with no responses: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=97563 .
Hibernate works fine, suspend simply cold reboots.
