Problems with Hp mini 311 sound

Recently I purchased an HP mini 311 and was running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and everything was working.

I had had experience in the past with Arch Linux and had set it up before on one of my other laptops.

I installed Arch Linux on my HP mini 311 and have been trying to get the sound working, but to no avail.

Hardware:
Nvidia ION chipset
Intel Atom n270 1.66ghz

According to 'aplay -l'

**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 0: STAC92xx Analog [STAC92xx Analog]
    ...
    ...
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 3: NVIDIA HDMI [NVIDIA HDMI]
    ...
    ...

I tried alsaconf in hopes of getting the proper configuration, but it tells me that "No PnP or PCI device was detected" and I'm sure the card was recognized at startup because I looked through /var/log files and found it.

According to 'lsmod | grep snd'
     snd_hda_codec_nvhdmi
     ...
     snd_hda_intel

are both loaded on the system.

I also checked 'alsamixer' and made sure the correct card was selected and that none of the channels were muted.

Does anyone have any ideas?
