I compiled libvdpau 0.4.1 pulling the PKGBUILD from ABS and updating it.
Now that i try to update the system with pacman -Syu, pacman insists on wanting to reinstall 0.4, even if it's older!
What I do not understand is that vercmp 0.4 0.4.1 gives correctly -1.
If the problem has already been reported, could someone post the link? I couldn't find it.

libvdpau 0.4 has a force option in PKGBUILD
the differences between libvdpau 0.4 and 0.4.1 are only documentation clarifications. nothing more ![]()

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

I wasn't trying to force you to upgrade the package, i'm not the reporter...
I just didn't understand why pacman behaved so.
Thank you ![]()
P.S. is there a way to ignore or even better notify during the update with pacman of those flags like 'force'?

i didn't considered you were asking for an update. i'm just saying is useless to update in your system to 0.4.1.
to ignore that, add it in pacman.conf, Ignorepkg

If you want pacman to tell you when a package version has been forced, submit a feature request. If you can include a patch to implement it, that would be even better.
