wireless mouse not working - other threads did not help

I have a wireless mouse I'm trying to use on my arch netbook. I had the mouse, keyboard, and touch-pad drivers installed, and then I installed evdev and generated a new xorg config like it said in a similar post and that didn't work. Before I installed evdev, dmesg showed that it at least seemed to recognized the device even though it wasn't working. Something like "RF 2.4Ghz Wireless Mouse", after I installed evdev and changed the config that message went away and I can now longer see any reference to it being plugged in. I tried a wired usb mouse and it worked fine and showed up in dmesg and lsusb. I tested the mouse out in Ubuntu 10.04 and it worked right away. Any help?
