I've been experiencing Segmentation faults when trying to hibernate on a TuxOnIce-patched kernel with "hibernate -F /etc/hibernate/tuxonice.conf". They occur maybe 50% of the time when I'm trying to hibernate, so sometimes it hibernates without a problem at once, and sometimes it throws a "Segmentation faults" in tty1 and this error in logs:
archlinux kernel: dash[14953]: segfault at 4be2c ip b77aaff3 sp bf9535dc error 4 in libc-2.12.1.so[b7736000+145000]
I've also filed a bug here: http://bugzilla.tuxonice.net/show_bug.cgi?id=464
I'm using a 2.6.35.7 kernel, hibernate-script 2.0-5 from AUR and the latest TOI patch for 2.6.35.
It happened with older versions of those packages, too.
Any ideas appreciated. Cheers!

as mentioned already: difference between 2.6.35.6 and 2.6.35.7 in one patch for Xen:
commit b0dd220aefe1ab80823cf13e9588c64fec151488
Author: James Dingwall <james.dingwall@amdocs.com>
Date: Mon Sep 27 09:37:17 2010 +0100Xen: fix typo in previous patch
Correctly name the irq_chip structure to fix an immediate failure when booting
as a xen pv_ops guest with a NULL pointer exception. The missing 'x' was
introduced in commit [fb412a178502dc498430723b082a932f797e4763] applied to
2.6.3[25]-stable trees. The commit to mainline was
[aaca49642b92c8a57d3ca5029a5a94019c7af69f] which did not have the problem.

so you may as well stay with 2.6.35.6 if you have less problems with it but your is not related to a bug introduced to 2.6.35.7
also I don't have any issues with 2.6.35.7 so maybe there is something about your config?

As I said, it doesn't matter whether it's .7 or .6 or .2.
Which config in particular? Any ideas?

actually, maybe try tuxonice 3.2-r2 (latest release candidate)
also you may consider tweaked toi from gentoo:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-84 … 54ff3b1e84
I informed maintainer that i had some trouble with compiling and he posted two solutions. I had not tested these.
See if any of the solutions (toi-3.2-r2 or gentoo patch after fixing compilation) will work for you.
hopefully one of these will help you

Broch, I'm already using the latest rc2 (check my sig ). I can't open your gentoo link, though, cause it's cut a little.

sorry,
lets try this:

Ok, I'll try rebuilding with that patch. Also, I've tried removing the "dash" package, since it's maybe responsible for segfaults. I'll report back.
Btw.: Is it safe to carry on without having dash installed?

I don't have dash installed (though it is nice lightweight shell). It is needed by wiim. Other than that no use for toi I think.

Failed to patch with toi plus from gentoo. I'll keep on testing TOI without dash. Probably that's what's been making it fail.
