Nautilus file rename quirk

After the latest upgrades I noticed when I press F2 to rename a file in Nautilus 2.32, it now selects the whole file with its extension.

Before upgrade only the first part of the file was selected and I could rapidly change the file names. Is there a setting to revert back to this behavior?

Re: Nautilus file rename quirk

I can't add many comforting words, but try using icon view if you aren't already. I found a bug report (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=627110) that mentions the same problem for Nautilus 2.31. And I see the same problem when I use list view. There is not an option to configure this behavior; I have pored through gconf to find something. I have no problem with icon view.

You can switch to Nautilus 2.30 for now. Unless another bug has bothered you, I don't think you will miss anything in 2.32.

Re: Nautilus file rename quirk

Thanks a lot for the follow-up. I'll try to go back to 2.30 until it is fixed.

Sometimes I wonder if they beta-test their new versions anymore.
How could one miss such a simple thing!
