[SOLVED] firefox not taking focus from thunderbird

when clicking a link in an email in thunderbird, firefox (if it is already running) does not take focus. the button on the panel lights up and blinks but the window does not come to the front. is there a way to fix that?

This might be an option in your window manager or desktop environment. In XFCE I can get a similar behaviour (when I'm lucky) by enabling "Activate focus stealing prevention" and disabling "Honor standard ICCCM focus hint" in the Window Manager Tweaks window.

Re: [SOLVED] firefox not taking focus from thunderbird

well that led me in the right direction

using gconf-editor i searched for focus and found this key /apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/focus_prevention_level, which can also be found in CCSM under general options/focus&raise behaviour

it was set to 1 which is Low, changed it to 0 for Off and now when i click a link firefox comes to the front. thanks for the help!!
