I am wanting to run the Bridge Baron v17 application under wine on my wife's computer. Her video chip is an Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller. I have done all in the Intel wiki, setting KMS and all that - works fine mostly, except when I try to run Bridge Baron under Wine that application will sometimes cause X to crash, or to cause X to consume 100% CPU and make the desktop unusable. Bridge baron is known to work fine under Wine on most machines - no reports at winehq of any problems.
That application works fine under Wine on a similar up-to-date Arch system with an nVidia graphics chip - no X problems whatsoever.
I have attempted to turn off i915_modeset in the boot sequence but then X will not launch properly at all so KMS does not appear to be the issue. I suspect I need some sort of Intel driver switch in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file but I have no idea where to begin solving the problem. Any assitance greatly appreciated.
EDIT: further analysis indicates this to be wholly a WINE-Intel chip problem. The same problem exists when I attempt to run "winecfg" - so it has nothing to do with the application (Bridge Baron).

Philosophy is looking for a black cat in a dark room. Metaphysics is looking for a black cat in a dark room that isn't there. Religion is looking for a black cat in a dark room that isn't there and shouting "I found it!". Science is looking for a black cat in a dark room with a flashlight.
