Inkscape bug

Within the past three days I've broken inkscape. After starting inkscape prints

Gtk:ERROR:gtkrecentmanager.c:1942:get_icon_fallback: assertion failed: (retval != NULL)

to standard error then quits.

Inkscape broke within the past week. I pacman -Syu daily, and have reproduced the error after pacman -Syu'ing.

Seems to be a problem in GTK, though I don't know which packages I should revert. Any help?

Re: Inkscape bug

FWIW: I pacman -Syu daily as well. Tried two machines and both work. I'm using Gnome (if that matters). Inkscape starts up fine here.

Re: Inkscape bug

/var/log/pacman.log will tell you what have you updated recently - the most recent activity is at the bottom of the file, so

tail /var/log/pacman.log

I have no idea whether is it a bug you should report or some kind of misconfiguration.

Re: Inkscape bug

Thanks. Seems like on October 6th I upgraded gtk2 from 2.20.1-2 to 2.22.0-2, so that seems like the obvious culprit for now.

I'll try downgrading the gtk2 package based on some old PKGBUILD's taken from the svn logs (as unfortunately I pacman -Sc'd yesterday).

Re: Inkscape bug

Thanks a ton.

Downgrading gtk2 to 2.20.1-2 gets inkscape going again.

I'm working on a report for Monday and needed inkscape back quickly. When I have time, I'll look more closely at this and see if a bug needs to be filed upstream.

Again, thanks.

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

I have the same problem with the firefox buttons, so it's doubtful it's a configuration problem.

Re: Inkscape bug

Installing a different gtk theme than stock seems to get it working as well. I just installed the murrine-themes-collection and lxappearance from extra and picked one of those themes. There's still an artifact -- when moving the mouse around little triangles are drawn along the x and y axes on the ruler marks, and they are persistent until the window is redrawn (like when I switch to another tag in DWM and then back).
