kernel26-ck - lirc_serial not found

hi,
just installed kernel26-ck (2.6.35) and it really seems to give me snappier system. so far, so good.
alas, now lirc doesn't work anymore. the module lirc_serial cannot be found.
so, do i have to recompile the lirc package to get it working?
thx for any hints smile

Re: kernel26-ck - lirc_serial not found

Hi pseb,

since the topic isn't too old, and quite actual for me, I wanted to ask, if you came any further. With arch vanilla kernel it's possible to install the needed modules with pacman -S lirc, but if you're using an other kernel, I guess, you have to compile them from source, like you mentioned. I stumpled upon this thread ( http://www.g-loaded.eu/2006/01/10/how-t … -use-lirc/ ) and will I try it when I got the time. Maybe you can get me any hints on this, if you got any further.

Re: kernel26-ck - lirc_serial not found

ewigkeit is right.  You'll need to build them yourself just like folks wanting the nvidia drivers with kernel-ck need to do.  The bad news for you is that there isn't a lirc-ck package in the AUR.

...there is an nvidia-ck package smile

yes, i have lirc running now with kernel26-ck. i rebuilt it with abs, had to change the kernel-version in the PKGBUILD.  wonderful simplicity of arch ^^

@pseb - you might consider placing your PKGBUILD on the AUR so others can enjoy your work.

EDIT: Found myself needing this so placed the pkg in the AUR for others if interested, it's here.

mh... it's a minimal change to the PKGBUILD. IMHO it't be better to add a little info to the lirc wiki page.

Thanks for your clues with the ABS - that really did the job, pseb. In Return and to save you some time, I already added the info to the lirc wiki page.

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/LIR … rch-Kernel

This should do the job, I guess.
