Intel pro/100 VE
hey im using a Dell latitude d505 which contains the infamous intel pro/100 ve.
xfce tells me that the firmware is not install for my device. i have tried adding "noapic" $ "nolapic" to the boot environment. this did not work.
ive also ran through this guide http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=741687
but since i am using later versions i have had trouble installing the software and therefor the driver.
can anybody help?

e100 module doesn't work? All firmware files are present in /lib/firmware/e100/ directory provided by package linux-firmware.

theres three files in /lib/firmware/e100/
and no the e100 module does not work. xfce wireless manager says there is no firmware installed

Also you can try load 8139too module before e100 what I've found in the wiki.
rmmod e100
modprobe 8139too
modprobe e100
or MODULES=(8139too e100) in /etc/rc.conf
It might be helpful to post your full dmesg report (use pastie.org please) and ifconfig -a.

There is an eth0 interface what is good. Did you try to configure network in /etc/rc.conf and then run
/etc/rc.d/network restart
?

also ive tried using the b43legacy driver but fail
Offline
ive tried that and it failed.
neither the lights on the router or the card light up. ive tested ona working car and it lights up.
also will running the command
'ifdown etho' & 'ifup etho]

'interface eth0 not configured'

That b43 stuff is for wireless card. You should install b43-firmware-legacy, broadcom-wl and b43-fwcutter. Then blacklist and modprobe proper modules. More info - b43 wiki.

By the way, there's a topic about issue with e100 network randomly doesn't work after reboot (e100) but there is no good solution for you.
