I have just upgraded my system (eeepc 901/kdemod3). Nm-applet and blueman-applet no longer appear in my toolbar (but network manager and bluetooth still work).
When I run them from a terminal, I get these error messages:
** (nm-applet:3436): WARNING **: Fallback icon 'gtk-dialog-error' missing: (0) Icon 'gtk-dialog-error' not present in theme
**
ERROR:applet.c:2763:nma_icons_reload: assertion failed: (applet->fallback_icon)
Abortedand
Failed to load PowerManager
Icon 'gtk-missing-image' not present in themeObviously, some icons have been lost, or new ones are missing, but I have no idea where or how.
I would be very grateful for advice

hint, try the patch

Thank you so much for such a quick reply.
I seem to have fixed it by installing tango-icon-theme, then adding:
gtk-icon-theme-name = "Tango"to ~/.gtkrc-2.0-kde

that was NOT my intention. if you look in the comments, i need somebody to test that patch

My apologies. I am very new to arch, so I'm feeling my way.
I'm sorry to be so dense, but I don't know where to find the patch. If you can give me the direct link, I will happily remove my fix and test it.

I'll try to find time to have a go tomorrow. Be warned, though, this is way beyond my level of experience !!

I have the exact same problem after upgrading to Kubuntu 10.10 using gnome-network-manager.
I finally found your patch here but unfortunately have no idea of how to use it. Can you tell me how to run this patch at the console?
