Howdie,
I just updated my wifes PC. It had problems with wine and WoW month back which is why I installed a lts-kernel to fix that. Now I needed to update the machine again and removed the lts-kernel and the package nvidia-lts which was needed back then.
This just to explain already what I did prior to the error. What happens now is, that when I start anything with wine, I get this message on the console:
Error: API mismatch: the NVIDIA kernel module has version 256.53,
but this NVIDIA driver component has version 256.35. Please make
sure that the kernel module and all NVIDIA driver components
have the same version.
and neither reinstalling the (normal) nvidia-driver nor the kernel will solve that.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to solve that?

If it is x86_64 then check if there is the right version of lib32-nvidia-utils installed. It should be 256.53-2.

It's nvidia-utils-256.53-1 and no matter how much I sync pacman, it won't be anything else... should I change my mirrors?
And, the error claims that
this NVIDIA driver component has version 256.35
and that is just not right, is it?
Edit: I just used reflector to get me a new list of mirrors (which interestingly enough gave me a list full of org and au mirrors, strange for someone living in de, but hey...) but synching does nothing to update my nvidia-utils.

Dogmeat is tallking about lib32-nvidia-utils.
Can you post a pacman -Qs nvidia?
Offline
Sure.
pacman -Qs nvidia
local/lib32-nvidia-utils 256.35-5 (lib32)
NVIDIA drivers utilities and libraries.
local/libvdpau 0.4-1
Nvidia VDPAU library
local/nvidia 256.53-1
NVIDIA drivers for kernel26.
local/nvidia-utils 256.53-1
NVIDIA drivers utilities and libraries.

Your lib32-nvidia-utils is out of date. Make sure you have multilib repo enabled and then do
pacman -Syu
.
By the way, you should read news - News: True multilib for Arch Linux x86_64

That does look like the solution, thank you.
Yes, I guess I need to read Arch-News now (as well)

Alright, now it's up-to-date and nvidia works fine again. Thank you for that.
That does NOTHING to solve my problems with WoW after the big patch, but that is stuff for a different thread
