Hello,
After upgrading today there are problems with panel apps on my second X session. The Window List, Window Selector, Workspace Switcher and Show Desktop applications all do not work.
When they try to launch I get messages like: "Window List has quit unexpectedly." and options asking me to reload or dont reload.
I have not been able to get these apps to start. ( It is pretty hard to function with Window List working ).
Can anyone help me with this?

I should mention that these apps work fine on my first X session. Also, deleting the panel, adding a new panel, and then adding Window List (or the other applets) does not work either.

Anyone? ideas on where to look? I can't even find any debugging information.

Hi there!
Make sure you have the following packages installed:
gnome-panel-bonobo
libbonobo
libbonoboui
libgail-gnome
These packages are required for most panel applets. Maybe those require them too.
Plus I recall having to manually instal at least one of them after the upgrade to Gnome 2.32.

Ok, just checked and those are installed. Do you think I should re-install them?

Try a reinstall and see what happens...

Alright, I will try that after work tonight and see if reinstalling those packages helps.

Bad news. I reinstalled those 4 packages and restarted X.... No help. Still get the same errors.
"Window List has quit unexpectedly" on my second X session.

I'm all out of ideas...
Although you can check what is causing the errors in ~/.Xsession-errors
Just let me make sure I got it right:
On your first X session your panel works fine. However, when you start an extra X session and load Gnome, you get the errors.
If that is correct, it _might_ be related to a lockfile of some sort. You can check that by running your second X session as a different user.

Yes you have it right. I have a 4 monitor setup. On one video card I have display 0 and on the other video card I have display 1. ( Xinerama is not enabled because X will crash if I turn that on. So my only alternative was to use 2 X sessions.) Display 1 is where the problems are occurring.
I checked my .xsession-errors file for errors. Here is the 'panel phase' of gnome startup.

Also, any time I try to reload the Window List, or re add it to a panel, I get these warnings:

(gnome-panel:28389): GConf-WARNING **: Directory `/apps/panel/toplevels/top_panel_screen2/screen' was not being monitored by GConfClient 0x12fad80
I also tested this with a test user I created and had the same issues, and same warnings in the .xsession-errors log.

Well maybe this will get fixed in future versions. For now I am working around it by using perlpanel on my second X session.

Try
pacman -Rcs gnome
pacman -S gnome

Or maybe you should also submit a bug to gnome bugzilla. It's starting to look more like a bug then a misconfiguration of some sort.
They are usually very quick to reply.
Link it back here so we can also track it's progress, please.

Same issue here, applets, workspace switcher, window button list don't work on 2nd X session in Gnome. All worked perfectly before latest gnome upgrade.

I've had this prob as well, i've open a gnome bug and linked it back here.

@OP: you are not alone, same errors here.
What's strange is that every time I boot the gnome session, a different applet crashes. Two days ago was the notification bar, yesterday was the clock, today the workspace switcher applet.

Yes, happens here as well. I'm getting used to just 'killall gnome-panel' on starting up.

It's probably a weird coincidence on my box but it seems to happen here exactly every other time i boot/start Gnome.
