hi to all
with big surprise, today i discover that folder is full of .png thumbnail: about 400MB
so , i have delete all files BUT this isn't a good solution.....
a good idea instead could be to move this folder to RAM, in /dev/shm, how can i do that ???
thanks

mkdir /dev/shm/thumbnail
ln -s /dev/shm/thumbnail ~/.thumbnail
Though, you'd need to remake the directory on every boot. Perhaps put it in rc.local.

but doesn't exist a thumbnail.conf file ? is only a question...
PS: i'm studying about a more powerful way to manage this, say me your idea!!!

do you use gwenview? if so, i'd guess that it's responsible for generating a large percentage of your thumbnails.
fortunately, it has this option: Settings / Configure Gwenview / Advanced -> "Delete thumbnail cache folder on exit"
also, if you're a gnome user, i think there are global options for controlling the cache size.

i'm gnome user but i can't see any cache-size option....

Open up gconf-editor, and the appropriate option is under desktop -> gnome-> thumbnail_cache. You can change the cache size, and the length of time that thumbnails are kept.

No problem. Perhaps you should mark this thread as solved.
