Can't upgrade due to catalyst

Hi All,

Having trouble upgrading because of catalyst .. I get the following error:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

pacman -Syu

error: failed to prepare transaction (conflicting dependencies)
:: xf86-input-evdev and xorg-server-1.8-catalyst-maximize-fix are in conflict (xorg-server<1.9.0)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If I ignore the package xf86-input-evdev (and several others ..) I can get past that, and upgrade i.e

pacman -Su --ignore xf86-input-evdev --ignore xf86-input-keyboard --ignore xf86-input-mouse --ignore xf86-video-vesa

But is this the right thing to do? Do I need to upgrade catalyst?

Cheers,
Bernie

Re: Can't upgrade due to catalyst

Ok, after doing the above, I started the upgrade, all the files were fetched, then checked for conflicts,at this point I get the following error:

-----------------------------------

(345/345) checking for file conflicts                        [################################] 100%
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
libdbusmenu-qt: /usr/include/dbusmenu-qt/dbusmenu_export.h exists in filesystem
libdbusmenu-qt: /usr/include/dbusmenu-qt/dbusmenu_version.h exists in filesystem
libdbusmenu-qt: /usr/include/dbusmenu-qt/dbusmenuexporter.h exists in filesystem
libdbusmenu-qt: /usr/include/dbusmenu-qt/dbusmenuimporter.h exists in filesystem
libdbusmenu-qt: /usr/lib/libdbusmenu-qt.so exists in filesystem
libdbusmenu-qt: /usr/lib/libdbusmenu-qt.so.2 exists in filesystem
libdbusmenu-qt: /usr/lib/pkgconfig/dbusmenu-qt.pc exists in filesystem
kdebase-runtime: /usr/share/icons/default.kde4 exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
-------------------------------------------------

I tried installing libdbusmenu-qt by itself with the same error ..

Is there a way to clean out those files nicely, or do I have to do it manually?
Or is there a way to force the upgrade?

Thanks,
Bernie

Re: Can't upgrade due to catalyst

Since there is no response here, I have removed the files and continued the installation successfully ..

However, on reboot X is not coming up, so to see if I still have a conflict between xorg and catalyst, I tried a re-install of xorg,

this is what I got when I tried that:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
error: unresolvable package conflicts detected
error: failed to prepare transaction etc
:: xorg-server-catalyst-maximize-fix and xorg-server-1.8-catalyst-maximize-fix are in conflict (xorg-server)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

However, if I try to undelete any of these, I get a "no found" error from pacman ..

What is going on here, I am typing this from another compute as X is notb running on that machine ..

Please someone help...

Cheers,
Bernie

Re: Can't upgrade due to catalyst

What shows up if you run "pacman -Qqs | grep xorg-server"?

Also have you tried reinstalling "xorg-server-catalyst-maximize-fix"?

Re: Can't upgrade due to catalyst

Thanks, but that didn't help.

I did find the answer though, I grabbed the latest catalyst 10.10 (which supports xorg-server 1.9 and that managed to get rid of the old catalyst and catalyst-utils which would only
work on xorg-server 1.8

So I am happy now .. my laptop is back up and ruinning.

The only thing that bothers me now, is that the fonts look a bit thin .... not sure what is up there

Cheers,
Bernie
