Exploring the filesystem

I was reading up on [arch-general] and /sys/devices/system/clocksource got mentioned, so I started poking around and found a file called /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/crash_notes. Catting this (using sudo) led to a password. What is this file for? Googling the file doesn't reveal much other than it occuring among a listing of all the files in that directory.

Re: Exploring the filesystem

catting it led to a password? you mean the sudo password? I'm confused...
Here's my output

sudo cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/crash_notes
[sudo] password for ty:
1c0bbd4

Re: Exploring the filesystem

I suggest you change the thread title to "Exploring the sys filesystem" so that people have an idea what you're talking about. There is plenty of detailed information about sys available on the web.
