Disable network search

I'm using a rocket stick so i have to connect to the net manually,as far as i know,anyway when i m booting up, the network search is slowly down my boot time and i just want to know if it can be disabled and how.Thx

If you are in the same location and know the network segment you are in you can give your box a static IP instead of waiting for it to get a DHCP lease.  Edit the relevant section in /etc/rc.conf

Most home routers are setup to be 192.168.0.1 /24  so you can have an address anywhere between 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.254  Make sure it doesn't conflict with another computer on your LAN.

If you don't use a router and this is the main box you connect to your ISP with, you will not be able to disable DHCP unless you request them to give you a static public IP.
