firefox and thunderbird

while porting AL to i586 i am wondering about a issue with firefox and thunderbird

in the firefox pkgbuild it states that it provides nss-nspr and conflicts with nss-nspr
so for firefox to install easily (no force option) nss-nspr has to be removed which is a gnome requirement for evolution-data-server which gnome-panel is dependant upon.

however in the thunderbird pkgbuild it doesn't state any issues with the nss-nspr, but also provides the same libnspr4.so file.

FireFox

/opt/mozilla/lib/firefox-1.0.3/libnspr4.so

ThunderBird

/opt/mozilla/lib/thunderbird-1.0/libnspr4.so

NSS-NSPR

/usr/lib/libnspr4.so

my question is this if thunderbird can co-exist with nss-nspr, why can't firefox?
