Mouse focus issues in Gnome

Hi All,

I am having problems with mouse focus when I use Gnome (recently made the jump from kdemod) ..

What is happening is that when I click on for example, a pull-down list icon, I don't see the list until I move the mouse down, normally you should be able to just
click the icon for the list and the list should appear .. that doesn't happen, although "sometimes" it does, it is flakey.

Also, when I mouse hover for tips, the tip doesn't appear until I move the mouse away from the item.

I don't know if this is a compiz related thing, so will turn that off soon to see if it helps.. (I just got compiz going)

Appreciate any feedback.

UPDATE: The problem is only with compiz, with metacity (non composite mode) it is fine.
