Hi .... How can i stop the monitor going to sleep after about 5 or 10 minutes of being idle ? I have tried xfce4-power-manager and that has no effect no matter what settings i try ..
Any suggestions please ?
Many thanks

"xset s off" - to disable the screen blanking
"xset -dpms" - to disable the power saving

putting:
Option "DPMS" "False"
in the monitor section of xorg.conf should do the trick i think.

I have added the following to my "ServerLayout" section in xorg.conf to keeping my monitor from going into powersave mode
Option "Blank time" "0"
Option "standby time" "0"
Option "suspend time" "0"
Option "off time" "0"
And I haven't changed any settings in the monitor section.

All i have is Option "DPMS" "False" in my xorg.conf, but i suppose setting the timers to zero would, as a side-effect, turn dpms off as well.
Blank Time is the default timer for the screensaver.
man xorg.conf
Option "StandbyTime" "time":
It is only enabled for screens that have the
"DPMS" option set (see the MONITOR section below).
In any case you must restart xorg, and then check with
xset q | grep -i standby
xset q | grep -i dpms
to make sure.

Don't forget that by default, the xfce4-power-manager overrides those values. See General options --> "Monitor power management control"
