When I have booted into my Arch external drive recently, thanks to the *VERY* helpful Arch Wiki (and the Beginners' Guide), I can get X (and possibly GNOME) to autostart on startup. Problem is, when the system is fully booted, I just see an X watch on the screen and X constantly restarts, with no GDM. Any idea what could be causing it?
I have an integrated Intel graphics card and the drivers are already installed. Is there an "intel" HOOK to pass to mkinitcpio? Is there also a "video" HOOK? If so, then that's what I need to do.

Post your /var/log/Xorg.0.log
when you say autostart, are you talking about gdm ? If so please also post the last lines of your gdm.log (actually I don't know if it's called like that look in /var/log directory)
Ah, good taste! What a dreadful thing! Taste is the enemy of creativeness.
