Hi everyone,
I have my Arch setup so that it simply boots up into a terminal and I type startx to load whichever environment I specify in my .xinitrc file. Recently, when I try to type startx, it says X failed to start and gives the possible reason that my disk space is all used up (I'm not sure if this means my /home partition or my / partition). This happens regardless of whether I specify gnome, awesome, openbox, etc.
My only potential clue as to why this happened is that I hadn't updated Arch in a long time (I'd been using another distro, though I'd like to switch back now) and recently ran an update command through pacman. Everything seemed to work fine thereafter, but upon restarting the computer the problems began.
Thanks for any help on this!

df -h
should show how much space is left on each partition

Seems like 100% used space on / (the other ones have more than enough room).
Was 9 GB not enough for the / partition? Does anyone have any suggestions what I should try resizing it to (or what I could do to clean up files that definitely shouldn't be in there)?

9GB should be enough for /
Have you looked at what directories are occupying the most space? Have you cleared your pacman cache recently?

Clear your pacman cache, /tmp/ and your trash folders. Should free up space.
