Hi
Since a week or so (i think upgrade to gnome 2.32) links in evolution, pidgin and so on always open in gedit when i click on them, which is pretty useless. It's very annoying because you have to copy/paste the link in the browser every time. In the GNOME options I've configured firefox as web browser. Anyone ran into the same problem, or maybe has a solution?

Hi, sounds like you have a problem with the default program assigned to each mime-type.
Open the file "/usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache". Inside this file is a list of all file mime-types and the default programs associated with them on the right of the =, each program separated by a semi colon. If you want to change the order in which programs are used to open a program, move them to the left of the list. For example:
text/plain=abiword.desktop;gedit.desktop;
would open plain textfiles with abiword by default, with gedit as a backup option on the list when you right click and "open with". To change it to opening with gedit make it the following:
text/plain=gedit.desktop;abiword.desktop;
Hope this helps.

This doesn't seem to be the issue. in /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache, gedit only shows up in this line:
text/plain=sikuli-ide.desktop;leafpad.desktop;writer.desktop;gedit.desktop;
There is also a file ~/.local/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache but gedit doesnt show up there at all.
Also, as I understand it, the file only lists applications for mimetypes. Does a website have a mimetype?

try gvfs 1.6.5-2
gvfs developer did a "good" job announcing that 1.6.5 only works with glib 2.27.
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Still doesn't work
clyde -Qi gvfs glib2 | grep Version
Version : 1.6.5-1
Version : 2.26.0-2
My gvfs works fine, btw. I can mount FTP server in gnome just as normal.

No output. So it seems I don't have a default browser. How do i fix this?
