Hi everybody,
I started using pulseaudio trying to build gnome-shell. I'm experiencing a problem with pulseaudio-mixer-applet (no gnome-shell related, this happens with plain metacity). When I launch pulseaudio-mixer-applet from command line it doesn't load and fires the following error:
alessandro@alessandro-lappy:~$ pulseaudio-mixer-applet
pulseaudio-mixer-applet: error while loading shared libraries: libpanel-applet-2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
This led me to:
alessandro@alessandro-lappy:~$ sudo find / | grep libpanel-applet
Password:
/usr/lib/libpanel-applet-3.so
/usr/lib/libpanel-applet-3.so.0.0.5
/usr/lib/libpanel-applet-3.so.0
/usr/include/gnome-panel-3.0/libpanel-applet
/usr/include/gnome-panel-3.0/libpanel-applet/panel-applet-gconf.h
/usr/include/gnome-panel-3.0/libpanel-applet/panel-applet.h
/usr/include/gnome-panel-3.0/libpanel-applet/panel-applet-enums.h
I tried linking libpanel-applet-3-so.0 to libpanel-applet-2-so.0 but it didn't work. I also tried recompiling the package from ABS, but it complains about libpanel-applet missing, as:
checking for PULSEAUDIO_MIXER_APPLET... configure: error: Package requirements (glib-2.0 gobject-2.0 gtk+-2.0 libpanelapplet-2.0 libpulse >= 0.9.15 libpulse-mainloop-glib) were not met:
No package 'libpanelapplet-2.0' found
however I cannot find the mentioned package anywhere.

pulseaudio-mixer-applet needs to be fixed and change gnome-panel depedency to gnome-panel-bonobo
pacman -S gnome-panel-bonobo

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.
