Ok so everything was done according to the Install wiki, the Beginners guide, awesome wiki, and slim's wiki. When it boots up it goes fine and puts me to slim's login screen. when i log in with my regular user and password it flashes tty1 and then takes me back to the login screen and when i try to login as root it says "FAILED TO EXECUTE LOGIN COMMAND" then flashed tty1 and procedes to bring me back to the slim login. Also when trying to drop into console by typing console in the username it does the same thing, and when i try reboot it does nothing. Any ideas with whats wrong?
From /var/log/slim.log
/usr/bin/xauth: creating new authority file /root/.Xauthority
/bin/bash: /root/.Xinitrc: No such file for direcroty
slim: waiting for X server to shut down
/usr/bin/xauth: creating new authority file /home/markbabc/.Xauthority

Perhaps you could show us your ~/.xinitrc, so users with same problems, can learn from this thread.
And please add [SOLVED] in the title.

When i first cp'ed the skel /.xinitrc file into ~ and edited it to how the beginners guide and SLiM's guide said it was all good but when i ran SLiM i think it re-created the /.xinitrc file in ~ so all i had to do was re-enter the correct commands
