[solved with workaround] cmus error that injects text into the display

When I play a song in cmus, it injects what seems to be tag data from the track into the display. Sometimes this only affects the current line, sometimes it affects other lines. Anything that triggers a redraw event fixes the part of the display that gets redrawn, e.g. by scrolling the display or by highlighting the line.

Playback is not affected.

I have no idea what's causing it. I've tried rebuilding and downgrading several packages (cmus, ncurses, readline, urxvt, even some xorg packages) but I can't figure it out. I haven't installed anything new or changed any settings recently. I only noticed it yesterday but it may have been caused sometime within the last 2 weeks..

Has anyone else had this problem?

I had this problem too. I just built cmus from git and it disappeared.

I'm still curious about the cause of the problem, but the git package does indeed solve the issue. Thanks.

For anyone else stumbling onto this thread, you can find the cmus-git on the AUR.
