Nouveau and NV-GLX?

I am trying to use Nouveau with Gallium, and actually managed to get the GLX extension of Xorg to load. But, when I run glxgears, I get:

Xlib:  extension "NV-GLX" missing on display ":0.0".

The glxgears output looks very garbled. How do I fix this?
