[SOLVEDEpson SX205 - kernel detects well but CUPS refuses to cooperate

I have an Epson SX205. It worked well on Ubuntu, but now I installed Arch to have a minimal system. And it doesn't print anymore. I installed CUPS (I'm not sure if correctly though), added "FileDevice yes"
to /etc/cups/cupsd.conf and tried setting up the printer by localhost:631 and KDE printing settings. I tried rmmoding "usblp" but it still didn't work. CUPS doesn't even detect it. I tried to specify the address for the /dev file manually but this also failed.

My /var/log/messages.log | tail

Someone gave me a workaround on UbuntuForums.org to select Epson DX4800 driver instead of SX200/SX205.

Re: [SOLVEDEpson SX205 - kernel detects well but CUPS refuses to cooperate

I have the exact same printer and it was detected and works great here (Gnome). I am using the Stylus SX205 driver.
From my /var/log/messages.log...

Jun 10 10:08:37 arch64 load-modules.sh: Not loading module 'usblp' for alias 'usb:v04B8p0849d0100dc00dsc00dp00ic07isc01ip02' because it is blacklisted

Jun 10 10:08:38 arch64 kernel: sd 5:0:0:0: [sdg] Attached SCSI removable disk

I have !usblp added to MODULES in /etc/rc.conf, maybe try that.

Re: [SOLVEDEpson SX205 - kernel detects well but CUPS refuses to cooperate

Strange... I've done nothing out of the unusual with my install as regards printing and it's working fine. Cups is up to date but I'm still using ghostscript 8.70-4 due to a printing-black-pages issue (which might have been fixed recently, I haven't checked). Hope you can sort it out.

Could you post all the commands you use to install the printing stuff? There may be problem with me skipping something or misconfiguring. I'd just like to verify.

Re: [SOLVEDEpson SX205 - kernel detects well but CUPS refuses to cooperate

To be honest I don't remember fiddling with anything to get it to work. As far as I recall I installed CUPS and whatever else it pulled in and that was it. The only thing I definitely changed was the CUPS-PDF output directory in /etc/cups/cups-pdf.conf but that's unrelated to your problem!

Here's my /etc/cups/cupsd.conf -

Maybe try a 'sudo pacman -Rsn cups' and reinstall.
