squirellmail can't read config

i go to: /srv/http/squirellmail/config type:
ls -l get

total 212
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  31175 Jan 24  2010 config_default.php
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root    459 Jan 24  2010 config_local.php
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root   8321 Nov 14 19:35 config.php
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 159320 Feb 13  2010 conf.pl
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root    478 Jan 24  2010 index.php

but still get:
ERROR: Config file "config/config.php" not found. You need to configure SquirrelMail before you can use it.

any idea on this?

cd to /srv/http/squirellmail and "ls -l". what is the output?

same for /srv/http?

oh, and directory should be squrrelmail with one l in the middle, not two.
