VLC 1.1.5 does not prevent monitor standby anymore

Since I upgraded vlc to version 1.1.5, video playback does not prevent the monitor from going in a standby mode by the powersaving daemon of KDE after the timeout set, which used to happen in the last version and still is if I downgrade. The related option in vlc's options is enabled (default). Is anyone else experiencing this behaviour or found a solution on this?

Re: VLC 1.1.5 does not prevent monitor standby anymore

This had happened before, with version 1.14 IIRC. I exect a future version will fix this.

Meanwhile, you can work around it by issuing

    xset s off

before running vlc. You can reset the usual screen blanking behavior with

    xset s on
