Webp viewer

Hey there, anyone know of any image viewer/management program that supports Google's webp format yet? I did some tests on my vast array of reference imagery (no, it's not porn, I swear ) and it was a huge size difference with for me no visual loss in quality. However if I can't look at the images it's a pretty big disadvantage...

I don't know of any viewer that currently supports the format. In fact, Google recommends converting the files to PNG to view them. Right now, you have the promise that someone will add the format to their viewer. And someone no doubt will.

Don't bother. Unless a better encoder than libvpx is written, jpeg is better than webp. Just use a bit higher compression from what you use now if filesize is a problem.

Well, I don't know about photographs, but the tests I did were of artworks, everything from pencil sketches to paintings and here I was able to reach very low filesizes with webp without any real perceptible quality loss while at the same file sizes jpg started showing artefacts (saved using gimp and irfanview, maybe their jpg implementations are poor?). And giving that my reference material consists to 90% of artworks I wouldn't mind saving a bunch of gigabytes.

Snowknight: Yes, converting to webm to see the filesizes and then converting webm to png to see result was the way I determined quality/filesize, it sure would be easier if there were a viewer that supported it
