Hello everyone. Having some trouble running World of Warcraft on my Arch system under Wine. I run wine ./Launcher.exe, and this is what I get:
[World of Warcraft]$ wine ./Launcher.exe

[World of Warcraft]$And I get a window pop up in typical WoW fashion stating that I need to check my network and try again.
I thought maybe this was a wine problem itself, so I tried installing Firefox for Windows under wine, and it works just fine. I tried running Launcher as root, but I got the same result.
so I tried running wine ./Wow.exe and this is what happens:
World of Warcraft]$ wine ./Wow.exe

[World of Warcraft]$ and it pops up with a window from wine saying "Failed to find a suitable display device. Exiting Program". Looks like my video drivers are having issues. lspci | grep VGA gives me:
05:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G98 [GeForce 8400 GS] (rev a1)and lsmod | grep nv results in:
nvidia 10025938 40
i2c_core 18070 3 videodev,nvidia,i2c_i801Has anyone else had this happen to them, and if so, what can I do to fix it? I only have Windows installed on my computer to play WoW, and I would much rather get rid of it and play WoW under wine. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you very much.

You could look on winehq for special WoW settings, especially setting it to opengl mode, which might help. As for the network issue, all I can say is it doesn't do this here. The launcher works fine with the latest Wine (but maybe not the latest Launcher though, as I haven't downloaded the 4.0 update.)
Edit: my WTF/Config.wtf contains

With the most current launcher, it hasn't worked for me, even with the latest version of WINE. What i would suggest, is apply the patches manually,( put them into your main WoW folder, run them from either the file manager, or from command line, and let them install. While this is tedious, you need to apply the in sequential order, otherwise you'll run into problems. After you have all the patches applied, just run the game from wow.exe, and skip the launcher, you can change all necessary settings either from in the game, or from the config.wtf file.
