It updated the system it all went really smooth. I do not know why it is no more working. can please any suggest some tests or at least some measure what could have gone wrong

(of course I activated my numlock by pressing the num :-) )

Thanks in advance folks.

The chances of a system update breaking your numlock is pretty slim.  It is likely something else.  To quote one of my favorite shows, "Have you tried turning it on and off again?"

Re: Numlock is not working[SOLVED]

My numlock part of the keyboard is actually working. For example,

as you can see under the following link,

http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?tit … 0502070212

I can activate and deactivate the numlock (I see that the led on the keyboard is on when I activate it etc..) But the functionality is not activated. My numlock works somehow because when I press 4, the mouse cursor goes to the left direction (8 to the upper, 6 to the right, 2 to the down etc....) I can also use the keys to page up or down etc... So physically the numlock works (at least the directions and page up/down, position 1 and end, print etc.) I do not know why the number functionalilites are not activated. Do I have to configure something?

I really appreciate any kind of help.

Re: Numlock is not working[SOLVED]

I should also say that I tried fn button (for functionality switching) it does not work. That "fn" functionality switching does not have any effect on the problem. More interestingly, my usb standard keyboard's numlock is also not working when I plug it into my laptop and switch the numlock on. Therefore it seems like a problem in general in my laptop. My laptop keyboard and that usb keyboard numlocks were working fine until I updated the system. I am not sure if this update really caused this problem because I recognized this suddenly on one day. This day was after the system update => therefore my expectation

Re: Numlock is not working[SOLVED]

Did you check if numpad mouse emulation is enabled? Somewhere in keyboard preferences, or try shift-numlock.

edit: didn't read two posts up, mouse emulation is indeed enabled from your description. please use the edit button next time instead of double-posting.

Re: Numlock is not working[SOLVED]

It did the job. Thanks a million. I do not know how it happened. It did not configure it to move cursor by using numpad. strange :-) Thank you very much again.
