I was trying random things from various forums trying to see if I could get yahoo messenger to work with wine and such. Stupid I know now. I typed ulimit -c unlimited and as I was watching videos and various things I noticed my arch / just fill up. I reset and I could not startx. Is there some cache or tmp folder I can dump somewhere?
Typing from Debian Squeeze

mount the drive from Debian and run "du" to see where the space is being taken up. Probably somewhere in /var...

Thank you!
I've found the offending files:
everything.log = 5.9GB
Kernel.log = 2.3GB
messages.log = 5.9GB
user.log = 3.6GB
Do I delete them? Are they regenerated when I boot up? And, just as important, what/how should I reset the limit on ulimit? What's the default?

Thanks for that link. I'm back in Arch!
I think it was a combination of everything there. I erased the log files. I think I was punked by the system for when I rebooted the oversized logs became gained .log.1 extentions. The ".log" logs were regenerated, but the ".log.1" logs were not. Thankfully logs 3 and 4 stayed the same. I did:
/usr/sbin/logrotate /etc/logrotate.conf
just to be certain.
user.log and user.log.1 were not regenerated. Is that a bad thing?
