TeXlive 2010 docs

Hi,

I cannot find the doc-packages for texlive 2010. The wiki says they should be in community, but they are not there and not even in AUR. Is it a package bug?

Regards,

drm

EDIT: found this thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=104399

Docs are only available online at http://tug.org/texlive/doc.html for now sad

Re: TeXlive 2010 docs

You can use wget to recursively retrieve a site, e.g.

wget -np -p -r -k ${url}

I'm not sure which doc you'd like to download though, is it

url=http://tug.org/texlive/doc/texlive-en/texlive-en.html

or

url=http://tug.org/texlive/Contents/live/doc.html

?

Re: TeXlive 2010 docs

I don't think drm00 is talking about downloading the documentation for TeXlive distribution itself, but the documentation for all the various user-contributed LaTeX packages on CTAN which come, or may come, as part of TeXlive. Most of these are PDF format. There may be a way to trawl through CTAN and download them, but even then, it might be some work to get texdoc working with them properly. (Your second example link goes to them, but it also goes to a bunch of other stuff: the packages themselves which are already installed, and it would be very difficult to extract just the right stuff.)

This is one of the reasons I don't use Arch's packaging system for TeXlive, and just install it directly from the scripts on TUG.

Re: TeXlive 2010 docs

Yes frabjous, you're right. I had some trouble with the siunitx-package, because a newer version of this script is is now included in texlive 2010 (compared to 2009). After the update, some of my documents did not compile, and I didn't know which package broke them. When I wanted to take a look in the documentation, I found out that there wasn't any documentation available anymore! Very annoying, because it was available with texlive 2009.

Re: TeXlive 2010 docs

Was it the same problem with siunitx discussed in this thread?

Re: TeXlive 2010 docs

I needed to include siunitx with '\usepackage[load-configurations=abbreviations]{siunitx}', because some macros are not supportet in the short form without this option anymore (like \ml). Another change was the minute-makro, which was \min before and is now \minute. This wasn't hard to find out with the documentation, but the documentation itself was hard to find smile

A misery, indeed... sad

Without this docs, I just can't start tllocalmgr:

$ tllocalmgr
Initializing ...
Cannot open /var/lib/texmf/arch/installedpkgs/texlive-texdoc-doc_20081227-1.pkgs

or

$ tllocalmgr --forceupdate
Retrieving new TeXLive database from CTAN...
Initializing ...
Cannot open /var/lib/texmf/arch/installedpkgs/texlive-texdoc-doc_20081227-1.pkgs

Does not anybody else have this (basic) problem? I wonder, why the PKGBUILD got so many votes, though I just gave its unofficial update a try and patched /usr/bin/tllocalmgr like coroa did. Or did I miss something?

we are Arch.
you will be assimilated!
resistance is futile!
