Hey,
I have a Sony Vaio and the new driver from nvidia (260-xx) makes it so that I don't even get a Xorg.0.log, much less get into X . Also I cant downgrade to the old one (error message:
warning: cannot resolve "kernel26<2.6.36", a dependency of "nvidia"
:: the following pacakage(s) cannot be upgraded due to unresolvable dependencies:
nvidia
)
Anyways I found this patch at http://nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.ph … stcount=26 and hoped that someone could help me patch the kernel so I could use the old driver with the new kernel. The new kernel makes my internal mic work:) Btw from the webpage above it seems like its only a fault on the Sony Vaio laptops, the new nvidia driver probably works everywhere else.
Your help is much appreciated:)

You need to downgrade the kernel alongside the nvidia driver. If you prefer to keep the new kernel, some patching / rebuilding may be needed.

Thanks Shadow256, worked like a charm, was a little worried when it didnt want to start when i had installed the packages because the nvidia was still at 260(?), but a reboot fixed that:D Going to be more observant of the aur in the future, and thanks again:D
