ArchLinux on the Seagate Dockstar

Hi!

Recently, a friend of mine and I got an Arch-Flavour working on the Seagate Dockstar.
The Dockstar is a small harddisk-dockingstation with 3 USB-Ports and an 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port,
supposed to 'bring the cloud home'. The service which is intended for you to use names itself Pogoplug and
requires you to pay a usage fee after a certain time.

Luckily it is possible to ssh onto the device(which runs BusyBox), modify the bootloader and boot a more complete system from a USB-Stick. big_smile
I'm not sure how well-known the instructions on how to do this are by now, but if you're interested, I can post them here smile

Re: ArchLinux on the Seagate Dockstar

Hey,

I've got one running here with two external harddisk connected to it  which are shared via samba.
It works great with www.plugapps.com which gives you an arch linux with their repos, because everything needs to
be compiled for arm.
IIRC it only uses about 8 Watts which is much better than running a dedicated computer just for some shares+torrents.
