Brightness control problem

I cant cat or echo > /proc/acpi/video/xxx/xxx/brightness
The prompt back are "<not supported>" and "permission denied" respectively.
I want to know why,or if there's any other way to adjust brightness.
THX
ps: I can do it well by gnome's applet,so Idon't think there's anything wrong.
but I wanna decline it more. I just don't know how.
my machine is hasee Q130,

Re: Brightness control problem

A couple three things:

1. Welcome to the boards

2. Post information about your hardware etc

3. Edit you post and remove the all caps - it is the same as shouting and it is both rude and annoying

Oh, I'm terribly sorry since english is a foreign language for me, I didn't realize it considered rude. I had been lazy about typing...

and again I'm very very sorry.
