Can't Install proprietary drivers for HD5770(SOLVED)

I just bought a radeon HD5770 and I've been having trouble trying to install the  proprietary linux driver  with
sh ./ati-driver-installer-10-11-x86.x86_64.run.I add fglrx to to mod list in /etc/rc.conf and nomodeset to my
kernel line in /boot/grub/menu.lst.When i reboot kde wont start and i get an error saying:
Fatal:module fglrx not found and then im stuck at the cli where i have to uninstall the driver and re-edit
my files so kde will load.I.ve been to the wiki serval times with no luck. any help installing this would be great.
THX

Edit
I figured it it out,i had xf86-video-ati,hd video driver and ati-dri installed once i dealt with that it was fairly easy and learning how to use abs didn't hurt either

Running directly ati installer is not the arch way... you have to read this
