SOLVED - KIND OF ... dict.org servers

I haven't been able to use dict for a few days now. Here's what I get for a reply:

[jeff@kayak ~]$ dict -v word
Configuration file:
   server localhost
   server dict.org
Cannot connect to any servers
[jeff@kayak ~]$

Going to http://dict.org redirects to http://www.dict.org/bin/Dict and a 403 Forbidden message; though other pages on dict.org work.

Same here, it's been down for several days that I have noticed.  Oddly I can not find any news or reports whatsoever about dictd problems by searching google or equivilents.
I got a new message today though:

[shariebeth@arch ~]$ dict acronym
Cannot connect to any servers (use -v to see why)
[shariebeth@arch ~]$ dict -v
dict 1.11.2/rf on Linux 2.6.35-ARCH

Re: SOLVED - KIND OF ... dict.org servers

Just checked dict.org and it appears to be back up and running. No reply yet to an email to their webmaster.

Though this is only the second time I've experienced this with their service, over the weekend I installed the wordnet dictionary database locally and am running the dictd daemon. Smooth as silk, even with this less than cutting edge HP Kayak with 800 MHz PIII processors.

Local FTW!

An update of sorts: nearly two months later, no reply to the email sent to dict.org's webmaster. I guess there's a message in the deafening silence...
